Experience the culture and traditions of Bilbao on this half-day tour that introduces you to this charming city.
Traveling from the pier, you will first drive to the famous Guggenheim Museum for an outside visit. The Museum is perhaps one of the most ambitious cultural projects of our time and the result of a unique collaboration between the Basque Administration and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation. Following an overview given by your guide and free time for photos, you will continue on to the Old Quarter, called El Arenal.
Upon arrival in the Old Quarter, you will leave your coach behind and take a short walk to a local venue where you will be treated to traditional tapas and wine. Afterwards, it's a guided walking tour of the Old Quarter, passing by several notable sites, including the famous Cathedral of Santiago, perhaps, the oldest building in Bilbao. At one time, the cathedral was the center of Bilbao and all the city's main streets converged here. Today, the Cathedral, which is dedicated to the city's patron saint, boasts the Vizcaya region's most beautiful Neo-Gothic tower.
Time permitting, you will have free time to do a bit of exploring on your own and perhaps purchase a souvenir before rejoining your coach for the transfer back to the pier.
Please note: This tour includes approximately 1-hour of moderate walking, some of it over uneven surfaces, plus any additional walking at the guests' discretion during free time. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests and may not be suitable for those with mobility concerns. Weather appropriate clothing; flat, comfortable walking shoes, a hat and sunglasses are recommended. The order of the sites viewed or visited may vary.
