Delight in this sweeping driving tour around London that welcomes you with its red buses and friendly ‘Bobbies’ and focuses on highlights such as Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, St. Paul’s Cathedral and the Tower of London.
After departing from the pier, you will settle in for a leisurely drive northwest through the idyllic English countryside. As classic as the sights are, what lies ahead in London is even more iconic, starting in the capital’s West End, a mecca for shopping.
Then from Tralfalgar Square, home of the imposing Nelson’s Column, you pass through Admiralty Arch and into The Mall. It’s quite a sight as Buckingham Palace stands at the far end and the delightful oasis St. James’ Park beckons to the side. Nearby, you will see Whitehall with its poignant Cenotaph war memorial, Horse Guards Parade and Downing Street, the official residence of the Prime Minister. In time, you will pause for photos of Westminster Abbey, the setting for every coronation since 1066. It’s remarkable how many icons of London are on this tour, and if traffic conditions are favorable more attractions may be added.
Mid-day, you’ll be given some free time for lunch on your own before rejoining your coach and making your way to the square mile of the old city, whose medieval and Georgian atmospheres still survive. Here, the massive Tower of London and majestic St. Paul’s Cathedral are but a few of the draws. Following this all-encompassing driving tour of London, you will return to Dover.
Please note: This tour is primarily panoramic in nature with any walking at the guests’ discretion during the photo-stops and free time. Time spent on the coach is approximately 6 – 6.5 hours. The tour is available to wheelchair guests who have a collapsible wheelchair, are able to make their own way on and off the coach and have an able-bodied companion to assist them.
