There is no better way to get acquainted with a city than on foot. With a lightweight audio player and a detailed map this Discovery Walks program offers an easy walking tour of some of the most historic sights in ancient Rome at your own pace. Included in your Discovery Walks Plus tour cost is a coach transfer to and from Rome (please consult with the Destination Services Desk on board the ship for departure time).
The Discovery Player is a full-stereo iPod which will allow you to explore the area's historic sights. The headsets or earpieces provided allow you to listen to all the facts and history of this memorable city while walking through the streets at your own pace. Simply consult the accompanying map to find each location and then go to the indicated number on the player for a detailed description of the site and its history.
The Discovery Player is yours for the day, so you can go as fast or as slow as you'd like. Follow the suggested Discovery Walks route or set out on your own adventure, moving about the city with ease following the detailed map and audio directions.
With more than 20 of the ancient city's most fascinating points of interest programmed into the player, your exploration of ancient Rome is limited only by your personal wishes. From the Coliseum we'll wander through the heart of the ancient city, including the Roman Forum as well three of the Imperial Forums and the ruins of their once beautiful temples. Three museums are also located along our walk, including two of Rome's most well known museums as well as one of the city's newest and most unique ones. Your Discovery Walks stroll through the heart and soul of ancient Rome will no doubt be the highlight of your visit to the Eternal City of Rome.
Please note: Guests will need to complete a Program Equipment Receipt and present a photo ID (such as a driver's license) when picking up their Discovery Player. Additionally, any iPod(s) not returned to the ship's Destination Services Desk in good working order will be assessed a Lost/Damaged item fee to the guest's onboard account in the amount of $200.00 per iPod.
