Traveling by colorful local boat, you will be transferred ashore to Athinios where your air-conditioned motor coach awaits you.
Your visit at the winery will provide an informative insight into how wines were once produced in Santorini and at the conclusion of your guided tour of the wine cellar, you'll be given the opportunity to sample some of Santorini's most renowned wines.
Continuing on, you will next make your way to the most northern tip of the island to experience the unique village of Oia. A spectacular small village situated on a steep slope of the caldera, many of its homes are found nestled in niches hewn into the volcanic rock. Still evident today are the large island mansions that were once home to wealthy seafarers of the past, creating a vibrant picture with their spectrum of pastel colors. As you stroll down the narrow cobbled streets, you'll encounter many quaint shops that offer a varied and unusual collection of hand-made ceramic art, paintings and semi-precious jewelry. Cafés that seem to cling to the edge of cliffs offer spectacular views of Thira and the volcano. Free time is provided for you to leisurely enjoy the village before returning to the ship.
Please note: This tour includes moderate walking, at times on uneven ground and cobblestone streets. There is a steep uphill walk and several steps from the parking stop in Thira town to the cable car. Also there are several steps in the town of Oia village. It is not considered suitable for wheelchair guests. Those with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of ability and stamina. Hats and flat, comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Those guests making wine purchases at the winery for shipment to their homes are advised that due to Customs regulations, wine deliveries can take up to 3 months or longer.
