Traveling by coach from the pier, you will journey into the beautiful and lush land that was praised by Homer and considered the ideal setting for his "Tempest" by Shakespeare. Richly endowed by nature as no other Greek island, Corfu continues to remain a part of Greece that stands apart.
Making your way through fertile areas of orange and lemon groves, you will come to reach Achilleion Palace. Built 100 years ago as a summer palace for its former owners, the Empress Elisabeth of Austria and Kaiser Wilhelm II, the palace is surrounded by manicured lawns and classic Greek statues. Not surprisingly, the residence and grounds contain numerous paintings and statues of its namesake, Achilles. The Imperial gardens located on top of the hill offer majestic views of densely wooded countryside and the Ionian Sea can be viewed in the distance as well.
After spending approximately one hour at the Palace, your tour will proceed on to one of the most beautifully renovated private villas on the island. Perched on the hill of a wooded peninsula, the Villa Rosa offers spectacular views of the bay. Upon your arrival, you will be welcomed by the gracious hospitality of the lady of the house and treated to a traditional Greek buffet luncheon, served with refreshments.
Relax in the Villa's magnificent gardens or sit poolside as a local trio entertains you with popular music of the island and dancers perform the Syrtaki dance. In true Corfiot style, you will be made to feel right at home by the warmth of your hostess.
