Departing from the pier you will travel along the east coastline of Málaga toward the scenic seaside enclave of Nerja. Once a sleepy fishing village, this delightful resort town with its powdery sand beaches and sparkling clear waters has become a popular tourist destination.
A short distance before arriving to Nerja is where the spectacular historical monument - The Nerja Caves is located. These fabulous natural archaeological caves contain wall paintings that date from the Palaeolithic and post-Palaeolithic periods, while skeletal remains and artifacts show that they were inhabited from about 25,000 BC up until the Bronze Age. You will also find impressive stalagmites and stalactites, including the exceptional 105-foot high central column in the Cataclysm Chamber. Your tour continues into the Hall of the Tusk before taking some additional stairs which lead to an impressive vantage point above the highest part of the Hall of the Cascade. These fantastic caves also serve as a natural theatre, where several concerts and ballets are staged during the summer.
Following your visit at the caves, you'll re-join your coach and travel on to Nerja's old town quarter. This charming village remains virtually unchanged, with narrow, winding streets and whitewashed houses that feature wrought iron terraces overflowing with geraniums. A truly colorful and picturesque sight awaits you around each corner in this quaint setting. Your guided walking tour will take you through the heart of the village and then you will have free time to further explore on your own or perhaps shop for local handicrafts.
Before making your way back to the pier, your coach will travel past the famous Roman Aqueduct.
