Morocco's economic capital and most modern city, Casablanca is endowed with a scenic coastline on the Atlantic Ocean.
Your tour of this bustling metropolis begins with a short drive to the central downtown market. Constructed during the French protectorate, it's filled with interesting shops and stands of fresh fruits, vegetables and spices. The colorful ambience and the variety of aromas here are a delight.
Afterwards, you will visit Mohamed V square in the heart of the city, a popular meeting place surrounded by lovely French colonial architecture. Continuing on, you will next explore the charming Habous District, which was constructed during the 1930s and consists of a small medina (old town), with traditional houses, mosques, and shops.
Your tour then travels to one of Casablanca's most modern structures, the Hassan II mosque. Inaugurated in 1993, the massive mosque features the world's highest minaret, and room for 25,000 people inside and another 80,000 outside. Much of it stretches over the Atlantic, allowing worshippers to kneel directly over the sea.
At the conclusion of your tour, you will be afforded some free time for shopping before returning to the pier.
Please note: This tour includes approximately 1 1/2 hours of a moderate walking and/or standing. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests and those with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of stamina and ability. Weather appropriate clothing; flat, comfortable walking shoes; a hat and sunglasses are recommended. The tour does not include an interior visit of the Hassan II Mosque, only a photo stop. The order of the sites viewed or visited may vary.
