Departing from the port, you will drive approximately one hour to Metropolis, a recently discovered ancient site on the Aegean coast that'snow under excavation. Metropolis wasfounded in the Hellenistic period, between the third and first century B.C., and fortified with imposing walls. Although once an affluent religious center, Metropolis was abandoned after the Turkish conquest in the 15th century. Through its excavation, it's come to life again.
After visiting Metropolis, you will drive to Claros, an ancient prophecy center known for its Temple of Apollo. Claros was mentioned as far back as the 6th and 7th centuries B.C. in the Homeric Hymns. There is a sacred cave near the Temple of Apollo in Claros, which was an important place both in the Hellenistic and Roman eras. Itconfirms the existence of Cybele cults in earlier periods. While touring Claros, you will learn much about its prophecies and spiritualism.
Continuing on, you will drive to a local handicraft center, followed by a carpet demonstration, where you'll see the variety of handmade rugs whileconversing with the townspeople. Afterwards, you'll have free time in Kusadasi for shopping or exploring on your own.
Please note: The duration of the drive is almost 2.5 hours in total for this tour.Guests must be able to walk approximately 1.5 miles over uneven and solid ground, inclines and 15 to 25 steps. Comfortable walking shoes, comfortable clothing, a hat, sunscreen and insect repellent are recommended. Guests should watch their step at all times in order to avoid injuries. The order of the tour itinerary may vary to avoid congestion at the sites. Due to the nature of this tour, it is not recommended for guests with walkers or wheelchairs or for persons who have difficulties in walking, climbing, and/or managing steps.
