Continuing upward, you'll travel to the Morne complex to view the Inniskilling Monument, which was erected in honor of the 27th Inniskilling Regiment who captured the Morne from the French for the British in 1796. This area is also home to one of St. Lucia's highest educational institutions, the OECS Secretariat, as well as the island's main television station.

A short drive away is Caribelle Batik, where a brief stop gives you the opportunity to see an artist creating distinctive works of art by using hot wax. Perhaps you'll want to shop for one of her special treasures before it's time to leave. Your tour next journeys along scenic secondary roads that run through the hills skirting the city, passing through colorful small communities and providing picturesque views of both the Atlantic and Caribbean coasts of the island.

Your next stop is at a view point within the community of La Guerre, where you will have a spectacular view of what was once the largest banana plantation on the island, the Marquis Estate. From here, it's onward through other quaint communities while making your way to Monchy, where a magnificent view of Rodney Bay and Pigeon Island greets you before entering Stony Hill, the private residence of Dr. Sony and his wife Cynthia. Your gracious hosts will happily chat with you and regal you with many fascinating stories of island life while opening their garden for your enjoyment. Island Splendour

Tour Code: STL-007
Tour Length: Half-Day (Approximately 3 hours)
Tour Effort: Moderate

Driving away from your familiar surroundings, plunge into the fun that this tour offers. Leisurely driving through our capital city of Castries, bypass our local Market, Cathedral, Derek Walcott Square and Central Library, while learning the interesting facts about them all!

Your next stop is La Toc Battery, an authentic 19th century British fort built to defend the island against foreign invasion of the vital coaling stations of St. Lucia. La Toc offers a fabulous representation of the British military in the late 19th century. You will see dimly lit tunnels, a shell store, an original shell lift and old ventilation shafts.

Travelling on you will pass banana plantations set between undulating hills before stopping for a brief visit in the rustic village of Anse La Raye with tiny wooden houses - some 100 years old.

Enjoy the country scenery as you travel towards beautiful Marigot Bay. This tranquil blue lagoon is a paradise surrounded by green hills and a palm-ringed shoreline. Marigot Bay is an exceptionally beautiful natural yacht harbour and a haven for all. Three words capture its setting: "magical", "exotic" and "idyllic".

St. Marks is an old colonial style house, which is strategically placed high up in the hills and offers a panoramic view. Capture the magnificence of the Castries harbor amidst the deep blue sea with a green backdrop. On a clear day, view Martinique out in the distance along the northern coastline. Enjoy some typical Creole snacks and a tasty rum punch or fruit juice after your tour of this colonial home.

As the bus descends Morne Fortune, you are sure to return "home" with a smile.

Please note: Light, comfortable clothing recommended with comfortable shoes or sandals, preferably with rubber soles. There are steps at La Toc Battery as well as St. Mark's (25) from the ground floor to first floor.

Sea Trek Adventure Helmet Diving

Tour Code: STL-012
Tour Length: Half-Day (Approximately 3 1/2 hours)
Tour Effort: Moderate

Wearing no other equipment than a diving helmet, walk along the ocean floor for an up-close view of the teeming marine life darting about the coral reefs.

Depart from the pier and enjoy a leisurely drive north to Pigeon Island, a national park that is connected to the St. Lucia mainland by a man-made causeway. After a brief introduction to helmet diving, you'll be ready to explore the crystal-clear waters surrounding the island.

Helmet diving is easy to learn. Just slip the helmet comfortably over your head, so it rests on your shoulders. Air is supplied to the helmet through a tube connected to an air tank on the water's surface that follows wherever you walk. There's no air regulator or mouthpiece, so you can breathe just like you normally do. You can even wear prescription glasses or contact lenses because your head never gets wet throughout the entire helmet diving adventure.

The waters off Pigeon Island are teeming with colorful marine life such as flounder, blue tangs, parrotfish, spiny lobsters, arrow crabs and plenty more. Dependent upon the season, you might even see octopi, turtles and schools of sardinew as you effortlessly walk along the ocean floor.

Following your twenty-five minute Helmet diving experience, you'll have over ninety minutes of free time to swim at your leisure or explore other areas of the 40-acre island. In the 18th century, the British built Fort Rodney on one of Pigeon Island's twin peaks, and some of the buildings, defensive walls and cannons still remain. If it's a clear day, it's possible to see Martinique to the north. The park has a small restaurant on site where beverages and snacks are available for purchase. After your adventure on Pigeon Island, you'll rejoin your bus and transfer back to the pier.

Please note: Walking on this tour is mainly at the guests' discretion. The surfaces at Pigeon Island are a combination of sand, dirt, grass and gravel. The water activity is considered moderate and swimming skills are not required. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests or those with mobility concerns. Cool, comfortable clothing worn over swimwear; sun cap; sunglasses; sunscreen; towel; and flat, rubber-soled sandals are recommended. A pair of Crocs and the diving helmet are included. The minimum age to participate is 8 years old and children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult parent or guardian. Those who participate in any water activities do so at their own risk and responsibility. The sighting of marine life is not guaranteed.

St. Lucia For Art Lovers

Tour Code: STL-AL1
Tour Length: Half-Day (Approximately 3 3/4 hours)
Tour Effort: Moderate

This exclusive Artist's Loft tour has you spending time with several of St. Lucia's most esteemed artists at an exhibition of their work at The Pink House, topped off with a visit to the art studio of one of St. Lucia's renowned living art sculptors.

Departing from the pier, it's a short drive through the capital of Castries to The Pink House, a rosy-hued French colonial home set among towering palms, Spanish needles, and exotic fruit trees on the side of Mt. Fortune. This landmark home was built more than a century ago by Frederick Floissac, whose initials still adorn some of the flower pots. The house also serves as a gallery for several local artists.

After being treated to an intriguing silk-screen demonstration at The Pink House, you will have the opportunity to meet local artists whose work is on display. Feel free to discuss their pieces, which include creative expressions of St. Lucia's natural beauty. The artists will happily share stories regarding their inspirations and how they learned their crafts. As a complement to the experience, you'll sample traditional St. Lucian hors d'oeuvres such as accra, a spicy fried fish cake made with cod, and be given time to stroll through the home's lovely garden.

Continuing on, you will make your way to the nearby Eudovic Art Studio and meet Vincent Joseph Eudovic, who sculpts many of his abstract pieces from the now-extinct laurier-cannelle tree. He obtains the wood for his pieces deep in the forest, salvaging it from old stumps and then unearthing their roots. During your visit, you will have plenty of time to ask questions and view the marvelous living artwork he has created from the roots of these extinct trees. Afterwards, you will be transferred back to the pier with no doubt unforgettable memories of your day in St. Lucia.

Please note: This tour includes approximately 3-hours of easy to moderate walking/standing. There are gravel and grassy surfaces to negotiate at The Pink House which also has wooden floors. You will also encounter some sloping surfaces at each stop. Due to accessibility issues, the tour is not available to wheelchair guests and those with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of stamina and ability.
