Tucked away and surrounded by imposing mountain cliffs, Eagles Cragg expresses an elegant ambience amid nature’s beauty. Exclusive suites fashioned in glass and stone offer expansive views of the surrounding rock faces where eagles soar. Each suite is a secluded haven in which to unwind in sheer comfort. All nine detached suites can sleep a maximum of 2 adults per suite and include features such as indoor and outdoor shower facilities, bird-spotting scope and a private plunge pool with deck.

Program details and number of game drives subject to change based on flight details:

Day 1

Upon arrival at the Cape Town International Airport, you will be met outside the Customs and Immigration area and transferred to your hotel, where you will spend the evening. Lunch and dinner are on your own.

Day 2

After breakfast and checking out of the hotel, you will transfer to the Cape Town International Airport for a domestic flight to Port Elizabeth (+/- 1 hour 15 minute duration). On arrival at Port Elizabeth Airport, you will transfer 1 ½ - 2 hours by road to Shamwari Game Reserve and Eagles Crag.

Depending on the time of arrival, you will enjoy lunch and then free time at the lodge. In the afternoon, you will gather in the main lodge for tea followed by an open-vehicle game drive. Later, you will return to the lodge for dinner and to spend the evening.

Day 3

You will spend the entire day at your selected establishment, where two game drives and all meals are included.

Day 4

Depending on your flight time, you may or may not have time for a morning game drive. After breakfast and check-out formalities, transfer back to the Port Elizabeth Airport and depart on a domestic flight to Cape Town (+/- 1 hour 15 minute duration). On arrival at Cape Town International Airport, you will be met and transferred to Cape Town harbor, where you will embark the ship.

Please note:

-The contents and order of activities in this program are subject to change by the lodge management without prior notice, due to the prevailing weather conditions and movement of dangerous wildlife on the reserve.

-Whilst this is a safari area, the animals are wild and so sightings cannot be guaranteed.

-During early morning game drives in open vehicles it can be a little cool. We recommend that guests take along a windbreaker.

-During the day, it can get extremely hot. The game drive vehicles are not covered – and guests are therefore exposed to the elements. Guests are therefore advised not to forget their sunhats, sun block, sunglasses, as well as their cameras and binoculars.

-The roads in the game reserve are gravel. There are also inclines and certain parts of the game-drive can be bumpy. Not recommended for guests with back & neck problems or pregnant ladies.

-This program is suitable for guests with walking disabilities, providing that a travel companion or spouse accompanies them. Please also note that confirmation would be strictly subject to availability of handicapped rooms at the time of booking.

-No children under 6 years of age are allowed on safari.

-This program is not fully guided. Local representatives will assist you with your transfers however, the program at the lodge and hotel is run solely and at the discretion by the lodge/hotel staff.

Expected Weather:

South Africa’s seasons are the reverse of those in the northern hemisphere. Midwinter is June and midsummer is December and January. The climate varies from region to region but is generally mild throughout the year. Expect it to be hot during the day and much cooler in the evenings.

What to Bring:

Light cotton tops and cotton trousers and shorts in summer. Safari trousers and warm fleece tops for evenings and cooler days. Also, bring swimwear, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes, camera, film and batteries, personal toiletries.

Currency:

The monetary unit of South Africa is the Rand, divided into cents and abbreviated as R and c. All major credit cards are accepted at most establishments, although Visa and Mastercard are the most widely accepted cards.

Electricity:

South Africa’s electrical system is 220/230 volts A/C 50 cycles. Most hotels have hair dryers and plug adaptors in the bedrooms however we suggest you bring your own travel adaptors if you are bringing electronic devices.

Luggage:

On the flights from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth and vice versa, guests are permitted to check-in 1 piece of luggage at a maximum of 23 kg (50 lbs.) and maximum dimension of 158 cm (62 inches).

Excess luggage (up to 2 pieces of luggage per person) will be stored in Cape Town for the duration of the program and then transferred to the port for embarkation. Please pack accordingly for this and limit the luggage you take on the safari to 1 piece per person.

Overweight or excess bags not stored and brought on the safari will be at the expense of the guest.

Passengers are permitted to travel with one piece of hand luggage not exceeding 8 kg (18 lbs.) and a dimension of 56 cm (22 inches) length, 36 cm (14 inches) width and 23 cm (9 inches) height. Discover the bountiful charms of Cape Town by visiting landmarks such as a 17th-century castle, ascending Table Mountain, lingering over dinner in the wine country and enjoying free time to explore on your own.

Day 1

Upon arrival at the Cape Town International Airport (according to your individual flight arrival times), you will be met outside the Customs and Immigration area and transferred to your hotel in the city center, where you will spend the next three evenings. Check-in is at 2:00pm. Although every effort will be made to have rooms available before this time, this cannot be guaranteed. If you are arriving quite early, you will need to book an additional night’s stay in order to guarantee an available room when you arrive.

The remainder of the day and evening is at your leisure, and meals are on your own.

Day 2

Following breakfast at your hotel, you may spend the day however you please, exploring beautiful Cape Town at your own pace.

Enjoying a superb location, your hotel is perfectly situated in the heart of the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and offers spectacular views of the working harbor and Table Mountain. Walk to some of the finest retail outlets from designer stores to restaurants, craft markets, cinemas, boat cruises to Robben Island and entertainment in the amphitheater.

Other options include browsing the Two Oceans Aquarium and riding the Cape Wheel, a Ferris wheel-like structure that offers panoramic 360-degree views of Cape Town and the mountains beyond.

Early in the evening, you will be transferred to the Winelands, a famed wine-producing region, for a welcome dinner.

Day 3

After breakfast at the hotel, you will depart on a full-day guided tour of Cape Town. A remarkable city where the past and present harmoniously converge, Cape Town offers a wide range of attractions. Your first stop will be the 17th-century Castle of Good Hope, the oldest building in South Africa. While here, you may browse the military museum and William Fehr collection of artwork, antique furniture, silver and glassware.

Continuing on, you will soon reach Adderley Street, the principal thoroughfare of Cape Town. The 19th-century Cape architecture lining the street is spectacular and includes the Standard Bank Building, St George’s Anglican Cathedral and the Cultural History Museum.

Afterwards, you will stroll through the Company Gardens, the oldest garden in South Africa. Established in 1652, it was originally used as a vegetable garden to supply fresh produce to passing ships. The red-bricked House of Parliament, the South African National Gallery, the Jewish Museum and the Great Synagogue can all be found within the gardens.

Then following lunch, you will travel up Kloof Nek Road and on to Lower Table Mountain Road, where you will ascend Table Mountain. From this elevated vantage point, you will enjoy a bird’s-eye view of Cape Town, affectionately known as the Mother City because it was the first to be established in South Africa.

After descending Table Mountain, you will return to the hotel and spend the remainder of the afternoon at leisure with dinner on your own.

Note: Ascending Table Mountain by cable car is weather dependent.

Day 4

After breakfast and check out at the hotel, you will be transferred to the harbor to embark your cruise ship.

PRE- WINELANDS AND WILDLIFE - WESTIN

Set off on a memorable journey from Cape Town to the famous Cape Winelands to savor its picturesque landscapes and renowned wines. Discover the charming town of Franschhoek and visit the African penguin colony at Boulders Beach. Also, enjoy an exciting hosted game drive through one of Africa’s pristine wildlife reserves, where you will have the chance to witness lions, giraffes, zebras and other African animals in their natural habitats.

Day 1

Upon arrival at the Cape Town International Airport (according to your individual flight arrival times), you are met and transferred to your city-based hotel where you will spend the night. Lunch is on your own. Check-in time is at 3:00pm. Although every effort will be made to have rooms available before this time this cannot be guaranteed. If you are arriving quite early, in order to guarantee a room to be available when you arrive, you will need to book an additional night’s stay.

The remainder of the day and evening is at your leisure. Dinner will be on your own this evening.

Day 2

Depart Cape Town and head in an easterly direction towards the famous Cape Winelands, set below the dramatic range of mountains called the “Hottentots Holland”. White-washed homesteads nestling under avenues of oaks, rolling green hills covered with wild flowers, fertile valleys alive with the sounds of surging streams, restaurants with French names and Dutch flavors… such is the setting of the Winelands, home of some of the world’s finest wines and Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in South Africa after Cape Town.

Before lunch, a wine estate will be visited where you can partake in a formal wine tasting. You will also visit Franschhoek, a small town in the Western Cape Province and one of the oldest towns of the Republic of South Africa.

After lunch you will drive through Stellenbosch, “Town of Oaks”, the second oldest town in South Africa, founded by Governor Simon van der Stel in 1679. Today, Stellenbosch is best known as a major university town, characterized by Cape Dutch-style architecture and leafy streets so beautiful that some of them have been declared national monuments.

After your orientation tour you will return to the hotel where the remainder of the day is at your leisure. Dinner is included at your hotel this evening.

Day 3

After breakfast at your hotel, depart Cape Town for a game drive, which will take place in a 4 x 4 safari vehicle, with an experienced ranger guide.

Animals typically found roaming in the reserve included Rhino, buffalo, giraffe and lions (note: lions are in an enclosure). Large herds of zebra, black and blue wildebeest, red hartebeest, warthog, eland, springbok, blesbok and gemsbok may also been seen in the semi arid desert conditions. Hippo and crocodile lurk in the wetlands. Aquila’s wide array of bird species include several pairs of the rare and endangered black eagle, after which the reserve has been named.

A buffet lunch follows before returning to Cape Town.

The remainder of the day will be at your leisure and dinner is on your own.

Day 4

After breakfast at your hotel and check-out formalities, set out for the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. It is here that the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, along with their diverse eco systems, are thought to converge. This expansive nature reserve occupies 19,150 acres of indigenous flora and fauna. Cape Point and its dramatic sea cliffs, among South Africa’s highest, are main attractions on the reserve. Upon arrival you will ride the funicular railway to the top of Cape Point (provided it is in operation that day) and take in the breathtaking views and photo opportunities.

Thereafter, visit the African penguin colony at Boulder’s Beach followed by a drive through the naval base of Simon’s Town to Fish Hoek. From here, continue on to the colorful fishing harbor of Kalk Bay before turning on to Boyes Drive, which offers magnificent views of Muizenberg and False Bay.

Your drive will conclude passing the University of Cape Town, Rhodes Memorial, Mostert’s Mill and famous Groote Schuur Hospital before reaching Cape Town Harbor where you will embark the ship.

Day 4: – Cape Town

Please note: Land programs that encompass multiple days ashore customarily include extensive and prolonged activity, while those of shorter durations typically have more moderate activity levels. However, each program varies and participants should be prepared to negotiate a mixture of surfaces which may include: inclines, cobblestones, sand, and gravel or natural paths. There may also be a need to climb steps or stairs on occasion. Guests who utilize a wheelchair and those with mobility concerns are advised to check with the cruise line in advance to see if any portion of the tour program may not be considered suitable for their individual situation. Weather appropriate clothing; hats; sunglasses; and flat, comfortable walking shoes are generally recommended.

Pricing listed is also subject to change to meet unexpected cost increases for transportation, land arrangements or currency fluctuations. Once purchased, pricing is guaranteed and not subject to change. Land Programs must be purchased no later than 60 days prior to your sail date. Cancellations made within 60 days or less prior to the sail date are subject to 100% cancellation penalty.
