A little-known treasure in the province of Ilocos Norte, Currimao offers serene beaches, dramatic seascapes and fascinating history. Tranquil shores of soft sand are framed by fishing boats and colorful sunsets on Currimao Beach. North along the coast lie the striking Pangil Coral Rock Formations, calcified coral gardens rising from the sea that create aquamarine tidal pools brimming with tropical fish. A snorkeling excursion reveals the living coral underneath the surface at the Pinto Underwater Sculpture Museum, an innovative installation of submerged artworks serving to regenerate the region’s reefs. In the neighboring town of Paoay stands the monumental San Agustin Church, a UNESCO World Heritage site, while the coastline of Paoay is blanketed in sand dunes perfect for off-roading and sandboarding.
