DAY 1

Disembark in Durban and meet your English-speaking representative who will accompany you on your 4 hourS road transfer to Phinda Private Game Reserve. Make sure to have a hearty breakfast before you depart. A light snack pack will be provided on the drive.

Phinda Private Game Reserve encompasses an impressive 56,800 acres of prime wilderness in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Showcasing one of the continent's finest game-viewing experiences, Phinda features Africa's wildlife at its best and with up to four game drive opportunities, this fully inclusive program promises to be an unforgettable experience.

The glass walls of Phinda Forest Lodge’s air-conditioned suites offer a sweeping view of one of the most unique ecosystems on the planet. A dense canopy provides privacy, and floor to ceiling windows invite the forest in, with the wonderful opportunity to view wildlife roaming outside your doorstep.

On arrival at the main entrance gate, you will be met by game rangers who will transfer you to your lodge in 4-wheel drive open vehicles.

After lunch and some time to freshen up you will depart on an afternoon game drive. These are conducted in 4-wheel drive open vehicles, allowing for total freedom of movement and the ability to leave the road and track down Africa's Big 5. After dark, spotlights are used, providing you with the opportunity to view nocturnal creatures and carnivores on the hunt.

Sundowners and light snacks will be served at a clearing in the bush following your game drive with the possibility of viewing several nocturnal wildlife species.

Return to the lodge to freshen up before dinner is served.

DAY 2

After an early morning wake-up call there will be time for some tea or coffee at the main lodge before departing on a morning game-drive in open 4x4 vehicles, accompanied by your rangers and trackers.

Return to the lodge for breakfast followed by time at leisure to relax around the lodge.

Gather for high tea before departing on an afternoon game drive.

Once again, enjoy sundowners and light snacks in the bush following your game drive. Then return to the lodge for dinner.

DAY 3

You will have one final game drive before breakfast and checking out.

The day begins with an early morning wake-up call. Tea, coffee, and biscuits will be served in the lounge area.

Depart from the lodge on an early morning game-drive in open 4x4 vehicles, accompanied by your rangers and trackers.

On return to the lodge, breakfast will be served followed by check out formalities.

Meet your local English-speaking representative and thereafter transfer to the Main Entrance where you will board your vehicle for your road transfer to Durban (King Shaka International Airport). Travelling time is approximately 4 hours. A comfort stop will be made on the way and a lunch pack provided.

Check-in at Durban Airport for your flight to Cape Town. Land programs that encompass multiple days ashore customarily include extensive and prolonged activity, while those of shorter durations typically have more moderate activity levels. However, each program varies, and participants should be prepared to negotiate a mixture of surfaces which may include inclines, cobblestones, sand, and gravel or natural paths. There may also be a need to climb steps or stairs on occasion. This program is not recommended for guests who require the use of a wheelchair or mobility scooters. Guests with mobility concerns are advised to carefully assess their personal physical capabilities and stamina. Participants must be able to independently board and disembark from transportation, including motor coaches, and should be accompanied by an able-bodied companion if assistance is needed. Guests who choose to use independent transportation or wheelchair services provided by third-party companies may do so at their own risk and responsibility. We encourage guests to contact the cruise line in advance to discuss any specific mobility-related questions or concerns before booking this program. Weather appropriate clothing; hats; sunglasses; and flat, comfortable walking shoes are generally recommended.

All land programs are capacity controlled and subject to availability. Programs falling under the minimum number of required participants are subject to cancellation. OVERLAND: PHINDA MOUNTAIN LODGE SAFARI

$1,999.00/person

Phinda Private Game Reserve encompasses an impressive 56,800 acres of prime wilderness in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Showcasing one of the continent's finest game-viewing experiences, Phinda features Africa's wildlife at its best. Often described as the "Seven Worlds of Wonder," with its seven distinct habitats, Phinda is home to an abundance of wildlife from the largest lion to the smallest antelope. This fully inclusive program promises to be an unforgettable experience.

DAY 1 - December 18th , 2014

Depart Richards Bay and drive approximately 2.5 hours to the Phinda Private Game Reserve, a protected wildlife area that sprawls across nearly 57,000 beautiful acres of South Africa. Because of its size, the preserve boasts seven distinct habitats, including woodland, grassland, wetland and mountain ranges.

Upon arriving at the Phinda Mountain Lodge, you will enjoy a welcome drink and then a sumptuous lunch. Afterwards, you will have time to settle into your accommodations before departing on an afternoon game drive.

Late afternoon is one of the prime times to view wildlife, as it's cooler and the animals are more active. While there is no telling what you will observe, the reserve is home to countless animals, including the Big Five: elephant, lion, leopard, rhinoceros and Cape buffalo. Herds of elephants are often seen meandering through the fever tree forests, while white rhinoceroses are usually found grazing on the grassland.

Following the game drive, sundowners and light snacks will be served at a clearing in the bush, where you might see nocturnal wildlife. In time, you will return to the Phinda Mountain Lodge for dinner and to spend the evening. The lodge offers spectacular views of the mountain range and surrounding bushveld, so it's quite the setting.

DAY 2 - December 19th, 2014

The day begins with an early-morning wakeup call, followed by tea, coffee and biscuits in the lounge. This too is an ideal time for wildlife viewing. As before, you will head into the bush in an open-topped 4x4 vehicle, accompanied by knowledgeable rangers and trackers who are skilled at pointing out the various animals.

You may catch sight of a shy red duiker grazing on fallen leaves and fruit. The elegant nyala antelope is seen even more frequently, as Phinda boasts one of the highest densities of the species. The male nyala has a dark brown coat, yellow legs and shaggy mane, making it particularly spectacular. The female nyala features a less flashy, but no less beautiful chestnut coat. Of course, the Big Five always command attention and they are abundant.

Following your game drive, you will return to the lodge for breakfast. Then, after check out, you will transfer to Durban to rejoin your ship. Travelling time is approximately 3.5 hours.
