Departing the ship, you'll travel to the unique Apple Heritage Museum. Tasmania was once hailed as the Apple Isle and the museum chronicles the history of apple cultivation in the Huon Valley and Tasmania. Here you will enjoy a guided tour and sample an apple freshly peeled on a 1909 vintage Apple Peeling machine.
Timber also played a leading role in the history of the Huon Valley and upon leaving the Apple museum, you will visit the Forest & Heritage Centre in the old lumber town of Geeveston. The Centre contains some interesting exhibits related to Tasmania's forests as well as an interactive presentation on forest practices. Antique lumbering equipment is also on display.
Re-boarding your coach, your tour proceeds to the Tahune Forest Airwalk. This amazing attraction allows you to travel from treetop to treetop on a walkway built directly through the forest canopy. You will travel on foot approximately 1/3 of a mile at heights of over 100 feet above the forest floor. From here you will view a wet eucalypt forest and survey the glories of nature from an entirely new perspective. A casual luncheon will be served at the Airwalk Café or a similar venue.
Before returning to the ship, a visit will be made to one of Huon Valley's premium wineries for a brief presentation followed by a wine tasting.
Please note: This tour is not considered suitable for wheelchair guests and those with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of ability and stamina.
