Ride on horseback through the hauntingly beautiful, semi-arid terrain and beaches of Macanao Peninsula, a sparsely populated area in western Isla de Margarita.
Depart from the pier by van and drive due west to the narrowest part of Isla de Margarita. Upon reaching the Macanao peninsula, adjacent to La Restinga National Park, you will continue on to a horse ranch in the dramatic countryside.
Upon arrival, you’ll have a brief orientation before climbing atop a horse that has been specially chosen for you based on your riding ability. Over the next two hours, you will ride into the countryside, negotiating a mix of terrains that range from scenic low hills to semi-arid expanses to pristine beaches. Rarely will you be exposed to such a diversity of beautiful settings in such a short period of time.
Best of all, you will be on horseback, experiencing the wilds and serenity of Macanao peninsula in relative silence, the only sounds being natural. In fact, many of the areas are only accessible on horseback, so you will enjoy panoramas most visitors never see, including expanses of cacti in the shadow of a looming central mountain range. Look closely and you may spot songbirds, yellow-shouldered parrots, deer and even goats. That’s the beauty of this land; it may look barren and yet it’s full of life and activity.
Following your adventure on horseback, you will re-board your van and drive back to the pier.
