See just how incredibly scenic the Principality of Monaco is with a panoramic drive along the Grand Corniche before ascending to the Old City "The Rock".
Commence your walking tour passing by the monumental stone Oceanographic Museum and Aquarium, inaugurated in 1910 by Prince Albert I. Continue strolling through the narrow streets, then proceed to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception where Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace Kelly married, and which now contains their tombs. Next, continue on to the Palace Square, which is dominated by the magnificent residence of Prince Albert II. You will have a bit of free time before continuing the descent from the old town.
Later, you’ll board your coach and drive on a portion of the circuit of the Grand Prix to Monte Carlo, one of the area's signature attractions each year. Of course no visit to Monte Carlo would be complete without seeing Monte Carlo’s Grand Casino. The casino was designed by Charles Garnier, the French architect who built the famed Paris Opera and opened to great fanfare in 1878. Although it has is known for its gaming, it also features amazing architecture, stained glass windows, and allegorical paintings. Your guided tour does not include an interior visit of the casino; however, you will have some free time to explore on your own before it’s time to return to the ship.
Please note: This excursion involves 1/2 mile of walking on level surfaces in Monaco. Interior visits are not included. If guest wish to visit the cathedral, suitable attire is recommended. No exposed shoulders or knees; Shorts and tank tops are not acceptable. The order of visited sites may vary. To reach the Palace du Casino area guests will first walk from the parking area to the elevator and then up the steps to the terrace area. During the day casual attire is permitted for visiting the casino and formal is required at night. To enter the casino, photo ID or a passport is required and and there is an entrance fee of 10 Euros. This tour is not considered suitable for wheelchair guests and those guests with mobility concerns. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. The Grand Casino is only open in the afternoon from 2:00 p.m onwards.
